Ambient moods and soundscapes with heavy beats
This album began as a hodge-podge collection of the best pieces I recorded between 1995-1998, some heavily influenced by hallucinogens. Once I started transferring the analog recordings to digital and piecing them together on the computer, the running order and unifying themes of these previously unrelated bits intuited a loose project concept based on alternative states of consciousness. I then created a series of samples and overdubs to pepper throughout the project to reinforce these concepts, and realizing I need a bridge between the first and second halves of the project, I wrote the song You Know The Drill to fill the gap and inject a little fashionable cynicism into the mix. The Definitive Edition features some minor overdubs recorded in 2002 and several of the original samples have been removed and/or replaced.
Tricks Is For Kids: Unsupervised children at Saturday morning breakfast: a ceremony of incessant television blather, super-sugary cereals, milk, cheap plastic toy fetishes, dancing, chattering, running around the kitchen table, spinning around until dizzy, etc.
